Acadia National Park Is Mind Blowing.

Those of us who love the great outdoors are fortunate to have plenty of camping destinations in the United States to choose from. If you’re searching for the next place to make your camp home, be sure to add Acadia National Park to your list.

Although Acadia is one of the smaller parks in our national parks system, it is one the most popular, and it’s easy to see why. There’s no shortage of activities for visitors to take part in, including hiking, kayaking, bicycling, and rock climbing, just to name a few. The park comprises nearly 50,000 acres of an incredibly diverse ecosystem made up of forests, lakes, mountains, marshes, beaches, and tide pools. To date, there have been over 1700 animal species documented within the grounds of the park. Over 300 of those species are birds, making it one of the best places to birdwatch.

Cadillac Mountain is perhaps one of Acadia’s most well-known landmarks.  It offers the highest views on the entire East Coast, and it has the unique distinction of being the place where the sun first rises in the United States each morning.

Acadia National Park is located just outside of one of Maine’s most popular tourist destinations, the town of Bar Harbor. The Island Explorer provides public transportation to and from the park, making it easy to take advantage of everything the park and town have to offer. Camping options are plentiful throughout the region. For $40, RV users can camp in Schoodic Woods campground,  which is inside the park, or choose from one of the many privately owned campgrounds in the area.
