The Amazing Meals
Campfire french toast (adapted from thislilpiglet.net)
- Loaf of bread (your choice)
- Eggs (whites, whole, or egg substitute)
- Strawberries
- Sliced almonds
Take loaf of bread and set it in parchment paper inside tin foil. Add diced strawberries and almond slices, being sure to get some between all the slices. After tightening up the parchment paper a bit to make sure the egg doesn’t spill out, pour egg of your choice over loaf, and wrap up tight with parchment paper and tin foil. Put on campfire for 35-40 minutes, longer if bread is soggy when removed from fire.
Campfire Philly Cheesesteak (from TwinDragonflyDesigns.com)
- Loaf of french bread
- 2 cups precooked onion and pepper
- 1/4 cup garlic butter (garlic powder and butter)
- 1lb roast beef
- 1lb provolone cheese
Slice the bread every 1.5 inches about three-quarters of the way through. Butter each incision, then add peppers and onions. Layer in roast beef and cheese. Wrap the entire loaf in tin foil, spraying with oil so the cheese doesn’t stick. Place near the campfire (not on the coals) for thirty minutes.
The Awesome Snacks
- 1 banana per person
- mini marshmallows
- mini chocolate chips
Peel banana and carve a crater the length of the banana, placing on tin foil. Fill with mixture of marshmallows and chocolate chips, then wrap up tight. Place over the fire: it won’t take long!
Campfire Pie (Best if you have sandwich irons!)
- Bread
- Pie filling
Place one slice of bread in sandwich iron, then place filling in center. Add another slice on top and toast!
These recipes are sure to be hits with everyone around the campfire. From breakfast to goodnight snacking, you can look like a genius and do it tastefully and easily.
