The Camping Checklist You May Not Think Of
When you’re heading out on any camping trip, it’s best to have the camping checklist to ensure that you haven’t forgotten anything. Nobody wants to pile the sticks high in the fire pit, only to realize that the matches are nowhere to be found. But your checklist should go beyond supplies. Remember to tick these mindfulness exercises off the list too, and you’re guaranteed to have a relaxing trip.
Ditch the phone.
Of course you want to have your phone easily accessible for emergencies. But in the meantime, put it away. Keep it on silent; store it in a drawer. Don’t scroll through Facebook or check email. We are all so connected each and every day. When you’re out camping, take the time to purposely disconnect. Instead of staring at the little screen of your phone, read a book. Take a walk. Watch the wildlife.

Watch the wildlife. Be present.
Bring a journal.
One way to be present is to write in a journal. Travel journals are a great way to track your trips. Jot down the places you visit, things you see, experiences you have. Are there any places you want to visit again? Any you’d like to avoid? An activity that caught your eye but you didn’t get a chance to try it? Write it all down so you’ll remember to try this or avoid that next time. The best thing about travel journals is the fact that they can double as scrapbooks to preserve your camping memories.
Try something new.
Ever been bird watching? Is there a new trail that you want to hike? Maybe you’ve brought that book that’s been sitting on your nightstand forever and you just haven’t gotten around to reading it. Or your camping partner suggests a new card game as you’re settling down after dinner. Whatever it is, try something new. You may learn something about yourself or your travel companions. Or perhaps you will pick up a new hobby.
Above all, whenever you’re out camping, remember to have fun. That’s what it’s all about!
